The Third House is a large scale residential compound including a home , artist studio and guest houses to replace a beloved family complex that was destroyed in the 2025 Eaton wildfire. Situated on an acre of land at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, the new compound comprises a 4,000sf residence, a 3,000sf artist studio, a pool house, and a guesthouse, all designed to integrate domestic life, creative practice, and the surrounding landscape. The design works carefully with the site to position the structures in relation to ten beloved protected oak trees. The design foregrounds the existing landscape to shape the architecture while creating a resilient environment for living and artistic production.
